Velvick & Vanderburg Return to Host HBC-2

June 10, 2008

The HBC is pleased to announce that BASSMASTER Elite Series angler Byron Velvick and radio personality Stan Vanderburg will be returning to host HBC-2, which will be held at Clear Lake on Friday, July 11th

Velvick, a two-time former U.S. Open winner and two-time B.A.S.S. champion, has a soft spot in his heart for Clear Lake. He won the 2000 BASSMASTER California Invitational at Clear Lake with a record-setting three-day total weight of 83-pounds 5-ounces. That tournament is the first known national tournament to be won on swimbaits and put them on the map as a viable tournament weapon. Velvick also won the 2007 BASSMASTER Elite Series Wild Card event at Lake Okeechobee, Florida. That crucial victory earned him a coveted berth into the 2008 BASSMASTER Elite Series, in which he is currently in 26th place.

Velvick will again be joined by Rod & Reel Radio co-host Stan Vanderburg at HBC-2. Stan brings more than 25 years of bass fishing experience with him to the HBC, most of which is from Southern California.

In addition to emceeing the HBC-2 weigh-in and awards ceremony, Velvick and Vanderburg will again be doing some on-the-water filming and interviews throughout the contest.
